Arts & Culture at MECh

Cultural programming is an aspect of the Chavurah that brings together those who identify and engage more easily with art, history and culture-focused activities. As a community we are as passionate about culture as we are about ritual.

From events that explore and celebrate the Jewish cultural experience to getting out and enjoying the arts in Montreal together, MECh creates opportunities for connection, renewal, and learning in community. Past initiatives have included If Not Leonard, a gameshow-style evening celebrating historical Jewish personalities of Montreal, the Maimie Pinzer Mural project, a collaboration between Mile End Chavurah and Stella, l’amie de Maimie (2025), learning labs such as The People’s Yeshiva, and film screenings including Queen of the Deuce and How to Hold Glass

Many MECh members are also involved in cultural work across the city and sometimes share access to free or discounted tickets for concerts, theatre, dance, opera, exhibitions, and film. These opportunities are announced in the bulletin as they arise. Some are coordinated informally through the Culture Club, a loose group of members who keep an eye on cultural happenings around the city and invite others to join when something comes up.

Members are always welcome to share ideas and cultural offerings with the community!
