The MECh educational program provides a warm, fun, and inclusive community for students in grades 1–6 to explore Jewish life, covering local Jewish history, Torah stories, and tikkun olam. The program runs from September to May, meeting on Tuesday evenings from 4:15–6:00 pm. A typical session includes experiential lessons (Peula), individualized Hebrew instruction (Ivrit) across three age groups, and communal singing (Shira), along with monthly “special days” for creative holiday celebrations. JEDI is inclusive of all families, including interfaith and multi-racial families, and teaches a wide variety of Jewish customs, including Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi content.

The JEDI B-Mitzvah class is a year-long journey, running weekly from October to May, culminating in a group ceremony in May. The curriculum is designed to build a caring community while exploring topics like the diversity of Jewish life, social justice, the meaning of the Shabbat morning service, and the role of Torah. Students prepare for the ceremony by creating a tallis or kippah, writing a Dvar Torah, and learning to chant Torah (Leyning). The program is enriched by connection to the Mile End Chavurah community through volunteering, and the class content can be adjusted based on the interests of students and families.
